FAQ

eConcordia is Concordia University’s cutting edge credited online course platform. Courses on eConcordia are fully available to Concordia University students and independent students with Concordia. To learn more about becoming a student please visit admissions.

You can enroll in an eConcordia course the same way you enroll in an in-person course through your Student Hub. eConcordia courses are section EC. Courses have many different section codes which indicate their delivery type for example LEC (Lecture) BL (Blended) or EC (eConcordia). Though there are other courses that may be delivered remotely, only EC courses are designed and built by eConcordia.

eConcordia courses are part of your regular tuition and part of your regular course load. There are no additional tuition charges for eConcordia courses. Some courses may have a course material fee to cover textbooks or 3rd party software. These fees are payable when you activate your eConcordia course. Learn more about Course Materials Fees here.

eConcordia has a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in different faculties and we are adding new courses all the time. You can see all our current course offerings listed in the eConcordia course catalogue.

All eConcordia courses are asynchronous which means that you can do your coursework anytime during the semester. For this reason, your eConcordia courses will not appear on your schedule. Quizzes and assignments have specific due dates, and some professors may schedule virtual or in-person tutorials.

Every online course is designed differently so the assessments you encounter in your courses will be different depending on the subject matter, material, professor, and set-up of the course. Most courses have all their assessments exclusively online however, some courses may require you to be present on campus for the Midterm or Final exam. Assessments within your eConcordia course could take many forms such as:
  • Essays
  • Group projects
  • Video Assignments
  • Online Quizzes or Tests
  • Case Studies
  • Discussion Forums
  • Online Labs
  • Document Uploads (Excel, Access, SAP, or other file formats)
All eConcordia courses incorporate a variety of different assessment activities to appeal to different learning approaches and keep students engaged.

It is preferable to complete eConcordia courses on a laptop or desktop rather than a phone or tablet. To see the technical requirements please click here.

All the materials, including textbooks, for eConcordia courses are included within the course itself. When you activate your eConcordia course at the beginning of the semester, you may be asked to pay a course materials fee to cover the cost of textbooks or other included materials.

Most eConcordia exams are held online either on the Concordia Online Exams (COLE) system or on eConcordia itself. Some courses my require students to take the final exam in person, on campus. This will be clearly indicated in the course outline before the start of the semester.

"I have taken many eConcordia courses throughout my degree. Taking one online class per semester helped me balance my schedule and go at my own pace for content learning. The material for each course I took was thorough and well presented, making it easy to follow even without class interactions. I feared it would be difficult to reach out to professors or TAs, but so far, I have been able to contact and receive help with materials when needed. It has been a very positive and successful experience!"

"eConcordia allowed me to take 15 credits instead of the 12 I would have otherwise been enrolled in, because of the flexibility and self-led nature of the course. I'm glad I was able to take the extra course to, hopefully, accelerate my graduation timeline, while having the flexibility to work on the course when my schedule allowed."

"This is my second time taking an eConcordia class and I find that not only it is great if you are looking for a course to be flexible with, but it is also very easy to navigate through. I personally did not know this but the eConcordia platform has a virtual Chat option or EC Ami in case of any questions you might have. I will definitely be using these tools for my next eConcordia classes."

"eConcordia has always been a great tool for it's easy, intuitive and 24/7 accessibility. It allows me to create my own schedule and accommodate to anything unexpected outside of school. Having one less course where I need to go in, and that is much more flexible, is extremely useful as a busy student."

"I took an eConcordia class for the very first time this semester, and although I was a little nervous about the outcome, I enjoyed my experience. First, the course and the course material were interesting, moreover, the eConcordia website for the class was interactive, easy to access and understand. I did not encounter any technical difficulties, and my professor as well as the TA we’re accessible. I really enjoyed my experience."
